Anne Pramaggiore selected as 2017 “ETS Thought Leader of the Year”

Austin, Texas (March 20, 2017) – Zpryme, a research-based firm with services focused on energy, announced today that ComEd President and CEO Anne Pramaggiore has been selected as 2017’s “ETS Thought Leader of the Year.” Pramaggiore was chosen for the honor from a group of peers following voting by approximately 1,600 ETS alumni and participants. She will be recognized during a ceremony at Zpryme’s ETS17 on March 30, 2017 at 10:30 am at 800 Congress in Austin, Texas.

The “Thought Leader of the Year” award honors an individual with an inventive, brave vision to inspire the global energy ecosystem. Launched in 2015, it has previously been awarded to Dr. Massoud Amin, a University of Minnesota Professor and IEEE Chairman, in 2015 and to Doyle Beneby, former CPS Energy President and CEO, in 2016.

Unlike the last two years though, Pramaggiore along with a group of other industry peer nominees were first identified by the ETS Committee along with feedback and recommendations from Zpryme staff before the ultimate decision was made by voters.

“This peer recognition honors the more than 6,000 employees whose hard work and innovation have enabled ComEd’s progress and informed our vision for the future,” said Pramaggiore. “On their behalf I am honored to accept this award from ETS, a respected force for thought leadership in our evolving industry.”

Pramaggiore leads ComEd, which delivers electricity to 3.9 million customers in Chicago and Northern Illinois. She joined the company in 1998 to work on its transition to competitive energy markets under the Illinois Consumer Choice Law of 1997 and is the first female to hold the posts of President and CEO at ComEd. She also serves as a board member of Chicago Federal Reserve Board, Motorola Solutions, Inc., and several civic and community organizations.

“On behalf of Zpryme and the 2017 Energy Thought Summit, I’m honored to congratulate Anne Pramaggiore, president and CEO of ComEd on being named the 2017 ETS Thought Leader of the Year” shared Dr. Amin. “Anne has shown true leadership and clear vision in developing a progressive approach to manage and transform a large utility. She is a true leader and has been a voice for modernization and progress every since joining ComEd in 1998.”

Under Pramaggiore’s leadership, ComEd customers are experiencing the most reliable service in the company’s history and customer satisfaction has risen dramatically. The energy company is wrapping up a massive, five-year grid modernization and digitalization program that, in concert with landmark legislation recently passed in Illinois, has set the stage for the clean energy future that technology enables and customers want. The recent legislation also enables the growth of wind and solar energy, significantly expands energy efficiency programs, and makes important adjustments to ComEd’s business model that support its vision of becoming a next generation energy company.

“Anne’s vision and actions demonstrate to the energy industry the ways it can be transformed to build a more sustainable system for future generations,” added Christine Richards, Zpryme Research Director and ETS Committee Member.

ETS17 will take place March 27 – 30 at Austin’s newest event venue, 800 Congress. For more information, to purchase badges or see a list of participating thought leaders, please visit www.ets17.com.

About ETS17

What we gleaned from ETS16 is that an energy transformation is clearly emerging from the chaos—and now is the time to shape it. How do we create the modern energy infrastructure needed for next-generation communities? This isn’t just a utility problem; it isn’t just an engineering problem. Answering this question means new roles, new relationships, and new designs in energy.

ETS17 is calling all creative minds to convene and design real solutions for the energy transformation taking place today. This inclusive event welcomes everyone to the table to create change in energy, and consider the roles that emerging technologies play in shaping a new future.
