Matt’s experience in the energy industry covers fifteen years inside competitive electric & natural gas markets. He began his energy career in the field of data analytics in 2002 while employed with Strategic Energy – a competitive retail electric provider focused on the large C&I customer segment. Over the years, Matt has specialized in analytical & advisory roles across various facets of retail market operations in restructured energy states. In addition to his experience in data analytics, Matt has also held positions in the areas of utility operations, digital marketing, and government & regulatory affairs. Currently, Matt covers market affairs & utility relations on behalf of Direct Energy’s residential & small commercial business units. In this role, he is chiefly responsible for market operations oversight across six states, thirty utilities in the PJM Mid-Atlantic region. He consults with utilities on various projects involving matters of regulatory change, operational compliance, and transaction management. He has also enjoyed several projects specific to new market entry, new product development, systems & lean process improvement. In and outside of the energy industry, Matt’s technology career includes tenure in the fields of web development, UI/UX & digital graphic design. He has also enjoyed technical experience in the legal, healthcare, broadcast media, and consulting industries.
